Karen Schleimer

I am a wife and mother of three children. My family and I currently attend Columbia Heights Assembly of God in Kelso, Washington where I am a part- time worship leader for Celebrate Recovery on Friday nights. I am also on the Sunday morning worship team once a month.

I dedicated my life to Jesus Christ at age 5. I was taught how to worship the Lord on an intimate level under the leadership of Pastor Gerald Fry and Steve Fry at Calvary Community Church in San Jose, California. I composed my first song at age 15. I stopped writing soon after I finished high school. When faced with my father's death in 2003, I sunk into a deep depression out of which songs of worship began to flow. All of the music that I write is born out of a desire to honor and glorify my Lord Jesus Christ. It is my desire to write music that is in agreement with the Scriptures. In fact, many of the songs I have written contain actual Scriptures in them. The Word of God is powerful and I can think of nothing better to sing about!

I have had the privilege of leading worship for approximately two and a half years with the highly acclaimed Santa Cruz Celebrate Recovery Band. We led worship not only every Friday night, but our venue also included concerts in the park, jails, prison, retreats, and Sunday services at Santa Cruz Bible Church and other churches as well. In August of 2007, the Lord moved our family to Washington State where we joined Columbia Heights Assembly’s recently formed Celebrate Recovery ministry. I find great comfort and healing in worshiping my Lord and it brings me much joy to lead others into the presence of God through song. If you are blessed by this music, it is my hope and prayer that you will give the glory and honor to the One who inspired it all.
